It is free of deet and other harsh chemicals, and can easily be applied just like any other soap. Not to mention our all natural essential oils will leave your skin smelling amazing! Brooksie Soap is handmade by myself (Nick) and my Wife (Olive) in the US. How it Works

Citronella works by masking your natural attracting scent from insects who are looking for a quick snack. Citronella has proven results as a repellent and is used regularly in countries like India with a large amount of mosquitos. We found that the easiest way to apply Citronella to the skin was through the use of a soap bar. Which most people already use daily! But don't worry, Brooksie soap bars still offer everything you would want in a good bar of soap!

Results

Through our in-house testing as well as other personal antidotes from customers, Brooksie Insect Repellent Soap can reduce insect bites by 50-75% when used for more than 3 days consecutively. We don't claim to completely eliminate insect bites, however, most customers see a significate drop! This is backed up by our 4.5+ star rating as well as a 55% returning customer rate!

FAQ

What makes your beef tallow different?

Our tallow is wet rendered and filtered using steam distillation, meaning no chemicals are used at any point in the process. This results in a clean, pure product that's perfect for soap making, and skincare.

Do you use suet in your tallow?


As part of our zero-waste mission, we use all the fat from the cow, including about 10–20% suet. This helps create a richer, more nutrient-dense tallow.

What does your tallow feel like at room temperature?

Our tallow has a consistency similar to firm butter at room temperature and melts around 120°F. It spreads easily and softens quickly when applied to warm skin.

What is the shelf life of your tallow?

Properly stored, our tallow lasts:

- 1 year at room temperature
- 2 years in the refrigerator
- 3–4 years if frozen

Make sure to keep it sealed and out of direct sunlight to maximize freshness.

Where does your tallow come from?

We proudly partner with a few trusted U.S. farms to source our beef fat. All tallow is packed and shipped directly from our shop in Delaware.

What can I use your tallow for?

Our tallow is incredibly versatile! It can be used for:
- Soap making (adds hardness and creaminess)
- Skincare (as a balm or base for salves and lotions)

Is your tallow approved for human consumption?

The farms and distributers we partner with are USDA inspected. However, our local shop where we process, pack, and ship is not due to it being a difficult process. Therefore, we cannot advertise this product to be for human consumption.

Love the Smell and Feeling Post Shower

This insect repellent body soap is actually pretty solid. I bring it with me on my camping trips and it works decently. While it’s not a magical soap that completely prevents bugs from biting, I did notice fewer mosquitoes trying to attack me. The smell is great, and the quality leaves my skin feeling soft. I’d recommend trying it, but keep in mind that all skin types are different.

I love this soap for when I travel to a country where there is a lot of bugs and especially mosquitoes. It works so well as a repellant but it also smells so nice.

nice smell but not durable

it is soft with a nice smell but not very durable. it literally evaporates after you use it a few times.
